Interview with Heru Dwi Soesilo, Founder of Hay Concept Consulting


Tell us a bit of your background, how did you end up doing your career right now? And where do you see yourself in five years?

 I used to work in hotel industry at Jakarta & Bintan before joining Cigar Company for almost 10 years. I started working with the company for 4 years in Bali and continued another 6 years in Singapore selling the finest Cuban cigars and Single Malt Scotch Whisky, supplying all the 5 stars hotels, restaurant, private clubs or high profile accounts. When I was back home to Bali, I met 2 others good friends who used to work together in Bintan many years ago and decided to make our own dreams as a consulting company to provide excellent concept in hotel, villa and restaurant. We provide Social Media Marketing, Food Photography, Training and Chef on Call as well to your villa if you need for your party or special lunch or dinner.

5 years from now, I would see myself smoking a good Cuban cigar and drinking a good whisky with my wife while my daughter is playing by the beach, and still doing what I love about creating new great concept for F&B business in Asia Pacific. I also would like to share my knowledge with young generation about how to create memorable moment in the hospitality industry.

As a culinary enthusiast, could you tell us three of your most favorite Balinese traditional food?

Sup Kepala Ikan for the freshness and tanginess of the soup, Sambal Matah to accompany my chicken or duck and the last one is all kinds of Nasi Campur Bali. I can eat Nasi Campur everyday :)

If you won a million dollar lottery, how would you spend them?

Hmmm, I would use it for investing, creating my own restaurant and private cigar club, build a beach house for my family and charity.

Name one famous celebrity chef you want to meet, and what meal do you want him / her cook for you?

Marco Pierre White and I’ll be cooking Pasta Rendang hahahahha

Brazil. I love the sun, sea, food, music and culture.

If you could master one skill that you didn’t have right now, what would it be?


What was the last photo you took with your phone? Any special meaning behind it?

My daughter, Jingga. She stood between 2 mannequins in one of the fashion retails at the mall. It’s special since she loves fashion so much.

                Name one world-famous figure that has inspired you the most in life

Steve Jobs. With the entire ups and downs situation he experienced before, he still believed in his dreams and turned it into reality with his team: a game-changer brand of the technology world that we all know so well, Apple.
