INTERVIEW WITH ERICHT ALESSANDRO, GENERAL MANAGER OF THE KAYANA BALI

As a loving father and general manager, how do you strike balance between career and family? Explain a bit to us
For me, family is priority. When it comes to a career plan, I always consider as much as possible for a job that will suit with my family situation. At least in the beginning, my family has better understanding of my current job. This step is very important before starting my job as it helps me to get the peace of mind and focus on my duty during the hectic season. However, in daily basis I always try my best to finish my job on time so I can spend better quality time with my family at home. If anything may change during my work routine, my wife would be the one I share with and we work things out together and the way around.
What is the craziest thing you have ever done in your life?
Whenever I have the chance, I am constantly happy to twist the throttle of my motorbike in high speed. I am a Harley Davidson enthusiast.
What is the most memorable achievement in your career so far?
Successfully generated revenues in for some properties that seemed impossible to run. I also got several awards during my career in hospitality. I think those awards are some of my proudest achievements so far.
If you could pick one place anywhere in the world to be your dream destination, where would it be?
Bali would be my choice.
I arrived in Bali 1995 and lived alone – started from zero as a daily worker waiter and so on. I had tons of memories here both in good times and bad times. The process to live here was unique and amazing. For me, Bali is a different world completed with all it has to offer. I am very happy here. Thank God for blessing this island. More important amongst all is that I‘ve created a wonderful family here with my beautiful wife from Holland and gifted to be surrounded by gorgeous kids. I found Bali as my home and it will always be that way.
Who has inspired you the most in life?
I admire those successful people who started from zero or through the hard times. But I will say my sister is one of them. She is a tough woman in overall and the way she has managed her life since a teenager, married at young age, raising her kids and building her career all at the same time. Amazingly, during that struggle time until now she is still able to manage to go travelling and pursuing her passion in adventurous activities. The lesson I learnt from her is the consistency and how she enjoys life to the fullest. Despite of me trying, I think I’m still not on her level yet.
