CELEBRATING WOMEN AN INSPIRING AFTERNOON AT THE WESTIN RESORT NUSA DUA, BALI

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali and its Bali International Convention Centre hosted an inspiring afternoon gathering on Wednesday, 20th March 2019 to pay tribute to women and the role they play in society. This meaningful event was held in acknowledgement of International Women’s Day that took place earlier this month and Kartini Day, a national day coming up in April that honors the empowerment of Indonesian women.

Celebrating Women was an opportunity for ladies (as well as a few brave gentlemen) to connect over a series of talks, tea and sweet treats. The event commenced with a brief speech from Gaye Warren, Founder of Bali Pink Ribbon. Then it continued with a vibrant fashion parade by REE Indonesia showcased collection affordable clothing items designed to make women look and feel fabulous.

The highlight of the event was a series of informal talks expertly moderated by Co-Founder and Creative Director of WordPix Asia, Tressabel Hutasoit. She was joined on the stage by four keynote speakers who covered topics ranging from career advice to life experiences, wellness, family obligations and female entrepreneurship.

Editor in Chief for Femina Magazine, Petty S. Fatimah, shared details about her career history in the publishing industry. TV host and celebrity marathon runner, Melanie Putria, gave a moving account about her personal health journey and the importance of exercise. Happy Salma, a renowned Indonesian actress and owner of an artisan jewelry brand, touched on how she came from a family of strong and independent working women. Lastly, Riana Bismarak, former hotel executive and current fashion entrepreneur, shared her secrets for success.

To close the event, Mr. Oriol Montal, General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, spoke about his boyhood experience of growing up in a male dominated society in his native Spain. Now as a loving husband and father of two small daughters, he has a better understanding about women and is proud to work for a company like Marriott International that stands for gender equality.
