INTERVIEW WITH MRS. LISA TAURISIA, GENERAL MANAGER OF TANADEWA LUXURY VILLAS & SPA

Hi Mrs. Lisa, could you please tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and grew up in Jakarta then moved to Bali after I graduated from college. I came to Bali for holiday but then I felt in love with this island and have attached with the tourism industry until now.

You’ve been working in the hospitality industry for years and now you are the General Manager of Tanadewa Luxury Villas & Spa, do you consider yourself successful?

From my understanding, to become a successful means you can create the people or your subordinate to become successful as well. So now I’m contending with what I’m doing.

What kind of challenges have you faced in your career?

Oh well I love challenge! Nowadays challenge comes from Bali itself as a destination, because you know there are lot of hotels being built everywhere. That’s actually the main challenge for me to become more creative in order to attract more guests.

We just celebrated the day of Kartini last week. According to her story and your own experience, what does it mean to be empowered & independent woman?

Based on my experience, becoming a general manager and a single parent with three kids is a proof of being empowered and independent woman. It’s a big challenge for me to manage and balance both my career and family in line. So I might say that what I am doing now is what I call as being empowered and independent woman.

What is your strength?

I am a ‘doer’ and determined person. I do what I need to do, no matter what. I will try to achieve my goals despite many obstacles in front of me because I will just keep on going.

How about your weakness?

I am stubborn. I have and need to get what I want so I guess this is my weakness. Sometimes your strength could be your own weakness, isn’t? That’s another challenge for me.
