COMMUNITY AND CONSERVATION UNITE IN THE SUCCESSFUL ROLE FOR R.O.L.E 3.0
In an inspiring showcase of community spirit, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility, Grand Hyatt Bali, Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali alongside the R.O.L.E. Foundation, have once again raised the bar with the third annual Role for R.O.LE 3.0, a Hyatt to Hyatt Canoe Race. This event, deeply aligned with Hyatt’s World of Care ethos, unfolded on a sun-kissed Saturday, the 27th of April 2024, marking a significant stride towards environmental and social sustainability.
85 participants embarked on a 13-kilometer journey from the picturesque shores of Hyatt Regency Bali in Sanur to the pristine beaches of Grand Hyatt Bali in Nusa Dua, demonstrating not just physical endurance but a shared commitment to advancing care for our planet and communities. This year’s race went beyond athletic achievement, embodying the principles of Hyatt World of Care by fostering solidarity in support of women’s empowerment and environmental conservation among Indonesia’s youth.
The event attracted a diverse crowd, united by a common goal to effect positive change. It was a powerful manifestation of Hyatt’s commitment to care, echoing the World of Care’s focus on engaging with stakeholders to address emerging needs and evolve our global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy.
As competitors navigated the waters, from seasoned paddlers completing the course in record time to newcomers embracing the challenge, the spirit of the race transcended competition. The true triumph was the significant fundraising achievement of IDR 1.008.618,775 or equivalent to USD 62,000 earmarked for the R.O.L.E. Foundation’s vital initiatives. This aligns with World of Care’s mission to advance care for our planet and people through responsible business practices and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
“The Hyatt to Hyatt Canoe Race 3.0 is a vivid illustration of how collective efforts can address the pressing social and environmental challenges of our times. This event not only showcases our dedication to community and conservation but also represents a tangible expression of our World of Care commitments. The funds raised will significantly empower marginalized women and educate our youth on the importance of environmental conservation,” stated the Area VP & General Manager of Grand Hyatt Bali Gottfried Bogensperger
Echoing this sentiment, Hervé Mazella, the Managing Director of Hyatt Regency Bali and Andaz Bali added, “It’s inspiring to witness the community rallying for the third year in support of such critical causes. This race is more than a competition; it’s a reflection of our unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference, grounded in the principles of World of Care. We are excited to continue this tradition and achieve even greater impact in the future.”
The success of the Role for R.O.L.E 3.0 is a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of community engagement in support of good causes. It reinforces Hyatt’s global commitment to care for our planet, people, and responsible business, as outlined in the World of Care strategy.
Our heartfelt gratitude extends to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers for their generous contributions and steadfast support. Together, we are not just racing; we are paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable world.
