COMO Shambhala Estate is excited to announce “Threads of Tradition, a Journey into Balinese Weaving” a collaborative event with STELAR that celebrates the rich heritage of Balinese weaving. This immersive experience will take place at The Tea House, COMO Shambhala Estate, from August 26th until September 1st 2024, and will feature a series of activities designed to connect guests with the island’s cultural and artistic legacy. The event will include artisan-led masterclasses, live weaving sessions, and an exclusive COMO Conversations with Lorna Watson, founder of STELAR.
Event Highlights
COMO Conversations:
The kick-off event, “COMO Conversations: From Bali to the World with Lorna Watson,” will be held on August 26th at 11:00am. During this session, Lorna Watson will share her journey in founding STELAR, the importance of preserving Balinese weaving traditions, and her vision for the future of sustainable craftsmanship. This session is complimentary for in-house guests and priced at IDR 210,000++ per person for outside guests, inclusive of a one-hour free flow of canapés and drinks. Guests will have the opportunity to engage directly with Lorna Watson and gain insights into the broader impact of preserving these important cultural practices.
Artisan-Led Masterclasses:
One-hour masterclass: Guests can learn to weave their own leather key-charm. Priced at IDR 2,450,000++ per person, with a minimum of eight participants required.
Two-and-a-half-hour masterclass: Guests will weave a panel for a travel/passport pouch, which will be finished and delivered by STELAR. Personal monogramming is available for an additional charge. Priced at IDR 4,750,000++ per person, with a minimum of eight participants required.
Each masterclass offers a hands-on experience guided by skilled local artisans, providing a rare opportunity to engage directly with traditional Balinese weaving techniques.
Live Weaving Sessions:
Throughout the event, guests will have the opportunity to observe live weaving demonstrations, where local artisans will showcase the intricate processes involved in creating these beautiful textiles.
STELAR Pop-Up Store:
STELAR will host a pop-up store, allowing guests to purchase a selection of their luxury handcrafted bags and accessories, each reflecting the artistry and tradition of Balinese weaving.
