Sitting at the side of the street of Ubud just across Balinese traditional market, Gedong Sisi is a restaurant that truly embraces the meaning of ‘authenticity’.

Since opened 2 years ago, Gedong Sisi has decided to help maintain the tradition alive through their whole existence, not just being a cozy restaurant serving all-day delicacies. The restaurant is built mainly from wooden material and incorporating a deep sense of Balinese architecture in their interior design.

Their name ‘Gedong’ is Balinese words for ‘home’, and they tend to make their guest as comfortable as visiting a local friend’s house and feast upon tantalizing selections of Indonesian traditional dishes with authentic taste. Try their creation of classic Lombok Island’s ayam taliwang, which basically grilled chicken served with lawar vegetable and a plate of white rice. The whole chicken is tender, made from the traditional steaming process called ‘ungkep’ perfectly wrapped in spices, sweet and delicious. Then you have to try cecalon—Balinese soup consisting of chicken meatball, chopped pumpkin cooked with turmeric.

To quench your thirst, the restaurant also serves various selections of cocktail made from Balinese traditional liquor ‘arak’ and ‘berem’
