InterContinental Bali Resort proudly announces the appointment of François van der Merwe as the new Director of Food and Beverage. With an illustrious career spanning multiple continents and renowned hospitality brands, François brings a wealth of strategic expertise and passion for elevating culinary experiences to his new role.

François van der Merwe joins InterContinental Bali Resort with a notable background as a strategic Vice President of Operations, where he consistently delivered optimal business solutions and enhanced bottom-line profits. His leadership style emphasizes a meticulous focus on people development and the highest standards of customer experience. François firmly believes in “Enabling the Extraordinary” through robust frameworks, teamwork, integrity, and business excellence. “We are thrilled to welcome François to our team at InterContinental Bali Resort,” said Bruno Cristol, General Manager of InterContinental Bali Resort.

“His extensive experience in upscale hospitality operations and his commitment to driving exceptional service align perfectly with our resort’s dedication to providing unforgettable experiences for our guests.” Prior to joining InterContinental Bali Resort, François served as Vice President of Operations for upscale brands in Saudi Arabia, overseeing renowned establishments such as EL&N Café, Leila, Greenbox, Al Tazaj, and Umaymaty. His previous roles also include Director of Food & Beverage at The First CollectionHotel in Dubai and key management positions at luxury properties in the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. François van der Merwe’s career has been marked by a unique ability to assess business operations, implement strategic plans, and deliver improved productivity and reliability. He is recognized for his exceptional leadership in relationship development and fostering a service culture that exceeds expectations.
