  1. Could you share a little about Love Thread Project? How did it start?

Born in 2014, Love Thread Project was initially the result of a flourishing fashion blog that wanted to do more with its influence. I’ve always had a heart for social justice and a burning passion for world change. So I decided to start a side project with a mission to raise awareness and funds for local charities that support women at risk. After watching the fashion documentary ‘The True Cost’, I realized the ethical concerns and social injustices caused by fast fashion. There is a lack of awareness as to where our clothing comes from, how it’s produced and sourced. The majority of these clothes are made in developing nations where workers are subject to modern slavery. Statistically women are the most affected and as a female fashion blogger, this issue is very close to my heart. After realizing this problem, I decided to take Love Thread Project to the next step.

Now Love Thread Project has broadened its operations from a fundraising initiative to a multi-faceted collaborative organization. It is now a social enterprise providing a collaborative platform for social change through fashionable ventures. This new model extends our reach by allowing for a greater engagement with the creative and fashion industry, fostering collaboration for the ultimate purpose to educate, restore and empower women.

  1. What spark your interest in the world of fashion?

I’ve always loved dressing up as a kid; to me fashion is an outlet for my creativity. Dressing “weird” was what I was known for. I started documenting my inspirations and outfits on my blog and now here I am 4 years later.

  1. Who has inspired you the most in life (and why)?

This is a hard one; I get inspired the most by nature and things that surrounds me. I don’t have a particular person. But at the moment I’m reading Chapter One by Daniel Flynn, the Founder of Thank You Group. His story is very inspiring; he challenges my way of thinking and propels me to be courageous in my journey.

  1. If you can live in a fictional world / universe, where would it be (and why)?

Definitely Disney World! I’m all about the happily ever after. Call me a hopeless romantic but what girl wouldn’t want to be a princess for a day, living in a big castle with her prince charming, birds that can sing as your best friend… and did I mention a happily ever after?

  1. Where will you see yourself 5 years from now?

Hopefully living in the Bahamas, ha I wish! But travelling is on the cards. I’d love to see Love Thread Project’s program to be run in five different countries.

  1. Any words of encouragement for young generation who want to work in fashion industry?

The fashion and creative industry is a tough one to crack. But in my experience the best way to get in is pretty simple – just be you. Yes we’ve all heard that one before, but that’s the honest truth. The moment I truly accepted myself (flaws and all), I can focus on what I like to do and what I’m good at. I gained newfound confidence and people’s words don’t faze me much. There‘s freedom in letting go. There’s only one you, you’re unique and you’re special.

  1. What is your vision for Love Thread in the future?

I see Love Thread as a key movement and a household name that stands for women empowerment. Our vision is for women from all walks of life to realize their potential and pursue their dreams, and for these women to pay it forward in creating a safer and better world for those who need it.

We would like to use fashion, and the creative industry as a whole, to combat social injustice for women at risk. We believe that every woman regardless of their background should know that they are valuable, loved and have the freedom to pursue their dreams.
