INTERVIEW WITH CHANDRASHEKHAR JOSHI GENERAL MANAGER RENAISSANCE BALI ULUWATU RESORT AND SPA
How do you feel to be the new General Manager Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort and Spa?
I feel extremely honored for my new appointment at this wonderful destination of Bali. Renaissance Bali is an exceptional property and one of true market leaders in the island. Together with the experienced team on site, I will strive towards achieving high guest satisfaction through remarkable lifestyle activities and experiences, always embracing Renaissances tradition of lifestyle hotel, combined with the traditional local Bali flair for hospitality.
You started your career and grew in the F&B department, why did you choose to step out of it?
I wanted to come out of my comfort zone and widen my horizon. All my total hotel management skill set would have been brushed up with an exciting department as Sales and Marketing.
What have been your greatest challenges and successes in your professional journey?
I love new challenges and moving from operations to sales and back to operations is a testimony to that. Monotone is boring and I have strived to challenge myself through assignments, which bring out the best for me. Opening 2 tough hotels and establishing and ramping them and establishing have been very rewarding to me and Marriotts GM leadership excellence awards are testimony to them.
Out of all the luxury properties in Bali, what do you think makes Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort and Spa stands out?
The Sunset cocktails at the R Bar because the views are amazing. And the Roosterfish Beach Club at Pandawa, which is our very own beach club and our guests love chilling out by the pool and the ocean. Also, our breakfast buffet in Clay Craft Restaurant- it is the best breakfast in Bali. The views from the main infinity pool and, of course, our team of friendly, caring ambassadors that love what they do.
Do you have any dream destination? If so, where and why?
Bali, where else and thats why I am here.
Having accomplished so many things throughout your career, to whom do you owe your success to?
To my colleagues who have really worked hard for me, to my mentors who have guided me and to my family who always supported me.
If you were given the choice to see the future or redo a part in your life, which one would you choose and why?
No regrets, we all make mistakes and learn from them and become us through them. I would have been myself had I not make the copious mistakes that I have made and lived through to tell the story.
With all the challenges in the field, what do you do to relieve stress?
Spend time with family, alone time in hikes and treks and by taking care of health through exercise and rejuvenation
