author : , published : 31 July 2019

What did you love most about working at branded hotels in Bali? What was it like?

We all have aware that Bali is one of the world’s top travel destinations for travelers all over the world. Working in a hotel especially in branded hotels does not mean that internationalism will stops at your clients. It’s also included the people behind the reception, in the kitchen and at the offices come from all corners of the world and they bring along with them their own perspective, cultural background and creative ideas on how to efficiently work within the industry and to make sure everyone feel welcome.

Lastly, the reason why I love working in the hospitality industry is simple, it’s fun and it’s an enjoyable experience.

How do you feel to be in your current position?

I feel like, me and all of our team here included to become part of something bigger. As we all known, Mövenpick is now part of AccorHotels, a world-leading travel and lifestyle group. It helps us to expand our existence both in business hospitality industry and to all the travelers all around the world.

Have you always known you would venture into hospitality? What sparked your interest?

Since I was a kid, I loved to see and observe the world maps. I am always curious with other countries; where they are located, what the people do as well as its history.

When I started my career, I think working in this hospitality industry in particularly Sales and Marketing because there were a wide range of opportunities to travel around the world that I have never been seen before.

The dynamics and challenges of the sales and marketing industry attracted me to learn more and give more.

What do you look forward to as the DOSM?

I am excited to join Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali. It is a beautiful resort in a strategic location. Therefore, I am extremely confident that we can maintain our current market segment as well as penetrate potential new markets.

What do you find fascinating about Bali in general, as well as the island’s hospitality industry?

Bali will pamper you with everything that will indulge your every sense. From its beautiful mountains, stunning beaches, mystical temples with sunsets as well as its rich cultures, Bali is truly my personal paradise.

Do you like sticking to a routine? Or going with the flow?

For me, being stick to a routine and going with the flow it’s the perfect combination to helps us in our lives.

By designing our routine is the path to consistency, productivity, happiness, and fulfilling our true potential. Beside of that, being someone who “go with the flow” is the perfect tool for us to increase our flexibility, build an out-of-the-box thinking and the acceptance of what is, rather than focusing on ‘what if?’

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?

First of all and most obviously, yoga is a fantastic workout for my body. Twice a week I take my yoga mat to join some of yoga classes or at-home practicing. While practicing yoga, I learn to listen deeply to my body and my mind. It helps me to release the stress at work, sleep well and most important keeping me always thinking positively. Not to mentione, its benefit in helping me develop some proper posture, since a lot of the breathing and seated positions require a straight back for proper effect.

What activities/hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

Thanks to internet and digital era, back in past a year I loved spending my day-off watching Netflix, not to mention, gathering with my friends for some coffee-talk. My curiosity match perfectly with some of the series that Netflix can offer. It’s an emotional rollercoaster, from a moment when I am excited, curious to an exciting tense scene. What a riveting experience!

If you could go on a long holiday anywhere in the world, where would you go, and what would you do?

I love history and always be, and one of my bucket list destinations is Budapest. It’s because of its dramatic historical architecture to healing thermal waters as well as an amazing view within steps away. The city is a giant outdoor museum, and you can easily spend hours relaxing into side streets, courtyards, and alleyways, admiring the intricate work of each individual facade.

Can you share tips for women who would like to follow the same career path?

Be prepared to spot growth opportunities when they present themselves. Focus on your  life and career goals, always take on new challenges even if you’re not completely ready. Because, growth and comfort never co-exist.
