INTERVIEW SUDIMAN ARPAN GENERAL MANAGER PADMA RESORT UBUD

author : , published : 17 January 2024

How do you feel to be the General Manager of Padma Resort Ubud?
It is my honour to lead Padma Resort Ubud, a renowned destination listed among the best hotels. We are ranked #10 in the Top 25 Hotels – World by TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards 2023.

What do you think it is that makes Padma Resort Ubud stands out?
Padma Resort Ubud offers many natural resources and activities for our guests. We embrace the concept of agroforestry and organic garden to support natural ingredients for our restaurant. Additionally, our Animal Garden provides not only entertainment but also supports conservation and rescue efforts. And last but not least, we have major sustainability approaches such as reservoirs, solar panel activation, natural composting, minimal use of plastic, and also an organic garden. We hope these initiatives contribute to maintaining the well-being of nature.

Share with us the latest update about Padma Resort Ubud?
We recently welcomed Rossa, Rossi, and Rosso; three Javan Deer (Rusa Timorensis) to our Animal Garden family. As they are protected animals, we collaborate closely and obtain a license from the local government Natural Resources Conservation.

Tell us why travelers should visit and experience Padma Resort Ubud
Padma Resort Ubud is simply an escape from a busy life. You will have fresh air all day as we are surrounded by nature. Many outdoor activities will keep you busy, and our heated 89-metre infinity pool will give you a comfortable experience especially considering the refreshing climate in Payangan, which is considered chilly in Indonesia.

Has your guest profile changed post pandemic?
We noticed an increase in the domestic market. I believe this is related to the recommendation of exposing ourselves to the sun (outdoors) and also, Ubud is considered a ‘healing’ destination.

What do you think is the most important part of ensuring a memorable and exceptional experience for your guests?
The genuine care and sincere hospitality from our employees has touched many of our guests’ hearts. As Maya Angelou said “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.”

What have been your greatest challenges and successes in your professional journey?
Greatest Challenge: Patience. I always remind myself that common sense is not always common to others.
Success: Nothing is more rewarding to see the growth and the happiness of the people under my leadership.

How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
I commit 110% to my work on my work days and enjoy 20% planned activities and 80% free and easy time during my off days.

What do you usually do if you’re not at work?
Spend time with my very close friends, or else you would find working out or simply enjoying my lazy day.
