Congratulations on your new role! How does it feel to be the new Hotel Manager at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, one of the best resorts in Bali?
Thank you! This is an exciting milestone in my career. Leading The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, is both an honor and a responsibility. This iconic property has built a legacy of delivering exceptional guest experiences for over three decades, and the team here has a deep-rooted culture of hospitality that makes people feel truly at home. Managing a resort that has consistently been a leader in the Bali market presents both opportunities and challenges, but working alongside such a dedicated and passionate team motivates me every day to foster an environment where both guests and associates can thrive.
With years of experience working at luxury properties around the world, what inspired you to come to Bali and join The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali?
Several factors inspired my move to Bali. First and foremost, the Westin brand aligns perfectly with my personal values. Its well-defined concept, guest-centric approach, and focus on well-being resonate deeply with me. Secondly, Bali has always been on my bucket list—not just for its beauty but for its rich culture and warm hospitality. Lastly, with my wife being Indonesian, this move feels like the start of a long-term adventure, both professionally and personally, that will bring immense positivity to my life.
Having worked alongside world-renowned Michelin-starred chefs, what can guests expect from the dining outlets at the resort?
Our restaurants and bars at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, offer an exceptional culinary experience. The passion and dedication of our chefs rival those of the Michelin-starred professionals I’ve worked with in the past. The same philosophy extends to our beverage team, where mixologists create innovative cocktails and curate the finest wines available. What are the most significant lessons you’ve learned during your career
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that when you TAKE CARE OF YOUR ASSOCIATES, THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOUR GUESTS. The success of any hospitality business lies in fostering a supportive and empowering work culture where associates feel valued and motivated. When they thrive, the guest experience and overall business success naturally follow. Another key lesson is the importance of STARTING EVERY PROJECT WITH A CLEAR VISION OF THE DESIRED OUTCOME. Setting strong objectives and continuously assessing progress with your team ensures alignment, efficiency, and ultimately, success.
Having been in the industry for quite some time, what would you consider your biggest achievement, and what do you believe is the secret to your success?
One of my biggest achievements is reaching where I am today—being entrusted with the role of Hotel Manager at The Westin Resort and International Convention Center Nusa Dua, Bali. It’s an exciting challenge that continuously motivates me and marks a new chapter of learning and growth with Marriott, one of the world’s leading hospitality companies.
The key to a successful career in hospitality lies in continuous learning and surrounding yourself with great mentors. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside inspiring leaders throughout my journey, and absorbing their knowledge and insights has been instrumental in shaping my career. Staying curious, adaptable, and committed to excellence is what drives long-term success.
With several F&B outlets at your resort, what restaurant or dish would you personally recommend to us?
I’m always drawn to the Beef Rendang from our Ikan Restaurant—it’s a dish I crave often. But every time I visit, I’m introduced to new Indonesian delicacies like Babi Guling, Mie Aceh, or Bebek Betutu. What makes Ikan truly special is its ability to offer authentic Indonesian flavors that resonate with both locals and international guests. Each dish carries a unique story, influenced by the chefs’ personal experiences and regional traditions, making every visit a culinary journey worth returning for.
How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance?
Maintaining a work-life balance in the hospitality industry can be challenging, but I believe it comes down to time management, setting boundaries, and making the most of personal time. I ensure I stay active, spend quality time with my loved ones, and engage in activities that help me recharge like the pillars of Westin Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well, and Play Well
Additionally, I am lucky to have and to foster a strong, capable and experience team at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali which allows me to delegate effectively, ensuring both personal and professional well-being.
