INTERVIEW WITH MRS. LAETITIA, HARRIS HOTEL & RESIDENCES RIVERVIEW KUTA

- Hi Laetitia, could you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi everyone. I am Laetitia and people call me Laeti. I am French and have been living in Indonesia for 16 years by now. I graduated from International Business School in France and have been working in the hotel industry for 14 years. My hobby is long distance running.
- What have your achievement been to date?
I’ve been able to handle HARRIS Hotel & Residences Riverview Kuta with many inovations such as renovation, developing Australian market, repositioning the hotel as a family hotel, complying the hotel with corporate’s standard.
- What do you think about working in Bali?
Bali is a very enjoyable working place. Efficient sales call by near location, limited traffic, and very competitive market. Bali needs probably some refreshment (venues, entertainment spots) to grab tourists in and compete with other places like Maldives or Thailand.
- What is the most difficult situation you have had to face and how did you tackle it?
Adaptation to a new environment; new hotel, new city, new friends, new agents and partners, new market and many others. How to adapt? By socializing with related industry friends and keep doing my hobbies. You know there are three things in life that you need to keep up just so you could enjoy life in any situation. These are family, job, and hobbies. My family is in Jakarta, so two things I need to force myself hard is to maintain both job and hobbies.
- What do you enjoy about this industry?
I love the diversity of the job; managing team, training, sales call, meet & greet the guests, checking room/restaurant and any sudden happening situation.
- How do you measure success?
Success is whenever hotel reaches its hotel performance. My own success? Be an entrepreneur out of my passion.
- What is your greatest weakness?
I cannot stop doing things like setback, analysis, review, and creativity.
