MINIKINO FILM WEEK 7, THE POWER OF INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVALS NETWORK

author : , published : 08 September 2021

In spite of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Minikino Film Week 7 (MFW7) – Bali International Short Film Festival will be held across the island from 3 to 11 September 2021. The entire program will be held both offline and online.

“Festivals in the midst of a pandemic will pay attention to health protocols. This year we will require all festival staff and spectators to show proof of at least first shot of vaccine or a negative rapid antigen swab test result obtained in September 2021,” said Festival Director, Edo Wulia. This year, MFW7’s official selection boasts 214 shorts as part of 36 programs.

MFW7 also offers Short Film Library, Virtual Reality Room, The Raoul Wallenberg Institute Asia Pacific Award Nominees films accompanied with Audio Description and Closed Caption for blind and deaf people, and events for short film industry stakeholders to meet, network, and promote films.

“Connections are key to networking. Minikino Film Week acts both as a bridge and a door that opens the wide potential for collaboration and appreciation of the best Indonesian, Southeast Asian, and international short films,” said Fransiska Prihadi, Program Director of Minikino.

MFW7 will bring its unique cinema experience across Bali for the whole week at 15 different venues spread all around the island. While the Festival Lounge is at MASH Denpasar, the festival is collaborating with venue partners in Denpasar city, Buleleng, and Gianyar. The Pop-up Cinema this year will be held in three villages in Buleleng, Jembrana, and Denpasar.

“Meeting the audience in villages is always encouraging. The pandemic has improved communication with our collaborators. Besides regular coordination and information exchange, connection has been a major moral support for the preparation of MFW7″, said Made Suarbawa, the festival’s Traveling Director.

The festival program and schedule are available in digital format on the Minikino website minikino.org/filmweek. All programs are free and open to the public. To attend the festival, the audience must register online and retrieve their festival pass at the proposed festival venues. The registration form can be filled and submitted online at minikino.org/mfw7pass.
