SAYAN’S NEWEST SENSORY DRINK & DINE EXPERIENCE
Located in the heart of Ubud, Sayan has long been celebrated for its stunning views of misty jungles, flowing rivers, jaw-dropping sunsets, as well as its continuous culinary innovations. This summer, Sayan will be home to the newest dynamic duo of dining and drinking experiences: Arriba and Chupacabras. These two distinct venues redefine gastronomy and mixology by blending different flavours and ingredients for a sensory journey like no other.
First up, on the top floor, Arriba– the quintessential cocktail bar where Latin-American spirits steal the show. Get ready to explore a diverse range of signature cocktails where each concoction expertly blends locally-sourced ingredients found within the Indonesian archipelago, with Latin-American spirits; all crafted with precision and passion to elevate guests’ sunset sips. From refreshing ceviche to savoury arepas grilled over charcoal, Arriba’s signature cocktails are perfectly paired with small bites inspired by the lively street food scene of Latin America, celebrating its authentic flavours and tradition.
“Cocktail culture is more than just mixing drinks; it’s a journey of flavours, a celebration of diversity, and a nod to tradition. By blending locally-sourced ingredients with premium Latin-American spirits, here at Arriba we’ve crafted a sensory journey that bridges continents. Each sip tells a story of collaboration, heritage, and the endless possibilities of mixology.” says Aditya Yonida, Bar Manager at Arriba.
As the sun sets, step into Chupacabras on the ground floor and get lost in its magical mystique vibe, complete with rugged natural stones and flickering fire features surrounding the dining area’s interior.
Inspired by the mythical creature of South American folklore renowned for its love of fine meats, Chupacabras offers a modern twist on the South American grill experience, spiced up with a dash of Indonesian flavours. With the open kitchen, guests are invited to see the flames live in action as chefs work their magic on the wood-fire grill. From juicy steaks to melt-in-your-mouth lamb chops, every dish is its own unique culinary mash-up blending South American and Indonesian flavours, giving guests the best of the two culinary cultures.
“At Chupacabras, we’ve crafted a culinary experience that honours the timeless flavours of South America. Our contemporary steakhouse celebrates the marriage of old-world traditions with a modern flair, infusing lifetime recipes with an Indonesian touch that speaks to our sense of place. You’ll find premium meat cuts at the finest quality, cooked to perfection over our Argentinian bricks wood-fire grill, infusing every bite with smoky flavours.“ says Chef Mauro Santarelli, Executive Chef at Chupacabras and Arriba.
Arriba and Chupacabras aren’t just about great food and awesome drinks; both venues offer top-notch cooking, handcrafted cocktails and curated beats all rolled into one sensory experience. This all unfolds against the stunning backdrop of Sayan’s lush jungle and river views, complemented by its unmatched sunsets.
Design at Arriba and Chupacabras are crafted by Nawangseta, a renowned design firm based in Bali known for their expertise in creating buildings and projects that explore tactile and sensory qualities of material and space. To bring the mystical ambiance of Arriba and Chupacabras to life, the space blends contemporary aesthetics with its surroundings using natural stone and wood. Outside, tall plants and lush greenery are carefully placed, creating a sense of curiosity when guests first arrive. Inside, wooden furniture is intricately carved with Latin-American patterns, adding cultural richness to the overall atmosphere.
Arriba and Chupacabras are managed and developed by Sensorial Management Group (SMG) Indonesia, and will open its doors on 6 June 2024. For more information and to stay updated, follow Arriba @arriba.bali and Chupacabras @chupacabrasbali on Instagram
