TURTLE RELEASE AT HOTEL NIKKO BALI BENOA BEACH
Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach had release a total of 33 sea turtle hatchlings at the hotel’s beachfront together with the in-house guests.
The stretch of beach at Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa had been a nestling ground for sea turtles; which are known to come back to the same spot during breeding season to lay egg on the land. The eggs were found by the hotel’s Security Guard on 19 February 2018 and the hatchlings emerge from their nest under the sand on 8 April 2018. During the incubation period, the eggs were isolated on-site to protect the clutch from potential harm.
The turtle release was guided and observed by the local authority, Badan Konservasi Sumberdaya Alam (BKSDA) or the Natural Resources Conservation Bureau, to ensure all the hatchlings were safely transferred into the ocean.
The hotel’s Management intends to stay alert for any sea turtle eggs discovery on its beachfront area and support the conservation of the species by working along with local authorities and community.
